Contact Lenses

Contacts are still a relatively recent development in vision correction. They became popular because they do not change cosmetic appearance and because they provide better peripheral vision than glasses. They also allow more freedom during recreational and sporting activities.
  • Daily wear lenses correct all degrees of nearsightedness and farsightedness.
  • Extended wear lenses enable the patient to wear his or her lenses--even while sleeping--for typically a week at a time.
  • Toric lenses can successfully correct astigmatism.
  • Bifocal lenses are available for people with presbyopia (a normal aging process which causes one to require reading glasses).
  • Disposable lenses have eliminated most of the hassles and concerns of properly caring for lenses.

Contacts Instead of Bifocals

Contact lenses that help correct both your near and distance vision, called bifocal contact lenses, are available in many different varieties to suit different lifestyles and eye health requirements.

Because they're soft, they're especially comfortable, even if you've never worn contact lenses before. And they'll stay on your eyes comfortably, even when you're playing tennis, golf, or other sports.

Contacts for Astigmatism

People with astigmatism once had limited options. But today, thanks to toric soft contact lenses, people with astigmatism can enjoy the convenience and comfort associated with soft disposable lenses.

These lenses are different from traditional toric lenses. Because they're the first toric contact lenses that:
  • Are designed to be replaced once a month, so your lenses always feel clean and fresh
  • May eliminate the need for weekly enzyme cleaning
  • Give you 12 pairs of lenses for about what you'd spend on one pair of traditional toric contacts
  • Come with spare pairs in case you lose or tear a lens

Glasses continue to be the most popular choice for vision correction--and with good reason. They are carefully crafted to fit so each patient can expect consistent, clear vision for a lifetime.
  • Lens materials continue to improve. High index plastic lenses are thinner and stronger than ever.
  • Improvements in lens coatings extend the life of the lenses and can protect the eyes from harmful ultraviolet light.
  • Frame materials have also undergone dramatic technological advancements to provide a more durable frame that continues to look good through the years.

Sunglasses Are More Than Shades

Sunglasses have gone from a fashion accessory to a necessity. You depend on them for driving, recreation and most outdoor daytime activities.
When choosing your sunglasses, you probably still look for a fashionable frame but, more importantly, you should be seeking lenses to meet your eyes' needs for comfort and protection.
Factors you will want to consider are your eyes, your lifestyle and your personal preferences.
In addition to visible light, the sun has two invisible forms of radiation: infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV).

Your eyes' natural infrared protection is generally sufficient under normal outdoor seeing conditions. Your UV protection may not be.

For more help we can give you additional advice about prescription and non-prescription sunglasses based on what is best for your individual needs.
